Mammograms (x-rays of the breast) can find breast cancers when they are small and most curable. Yet, more than 20% of women in Georgia do not have this lifesaving test, often because they cannot afford it.

To help women receive this screening, the Cancer Coalition offers the Wise Women Rural Breast Cancer Outreach, Education andPicture3 Screening Program. We work with local hospitals, mammography centers, and primary care providers to help women receive the care they need.

Through this program, our professional health navigators educate low-income, uninsured women 40-64 years old. We then assist eligible women in receiving no-cost mammograms and if necessary, follow-up care.

To find out if you qualify for a no-cost mammogram, please call 229-352-9100.

Nettie Jones IMG_0372NETTIE JONES was scared. At 56 years old, she knew she was long overdue for her first mammogram, especially with two sisters and an aunt with breast cancer. But she didn’t know where to go or how she could pay for it … until the Cancer Coalition found her. Providing education, guidance and support, Coalition staff members eased Ms. Jones’ fears and arranged for her mammogram at no cost. “Everyone at the Coalition made sure I was comfortable,” says Ms. Jones. “I’m so thankful, and now I’m not afraid anymore.”
